You live a normal life - get up, do your day's work (whatever that may be) and then retire for the evening. Everything is perfectly normal, or so it seems, until one day you wake up in a land that is utterly unfamiliar to you. Perhaps it is divine intervention, or perhaps simply great cosmic misfortune. Whatever the case, your life will never again be the same.

Aldara is a D&D 4th edition campaign. All official WotC publications are legal source material for building your character. Characters start at level 1. This is a mystery/survival campaign with the players attempting to learn the truth as to where they are, and why they were brought there. It will be run in an episodic style similar to a TV show: 6-10 main characters will participate in a 2-3 month "episode" with its own plot and climax. A larger super-plot will tie one episode to the next, and the characters attempt to survive and unravel the mystery of there arrival in Aldara.

New players are always welcome, however only the 6-10 "main characters" or "leads" of the current episode will be actively roleplaying. Additional characters will serve as "supporting cast" or "guest stars", briefly assisting the main characters, but likely not remaining active for the duration of the episode. Non-lead characters may also use their in-game time to perform other tasks such as scouting, foraging, etc. and may have brief slow-moving threads of their own.

Prior to the start of each episode, characters may sign up to be a lead for that episode. Preference will be given to characters who are roleplayed well who are actively involved in the ongoing plot, however I will attempt to rotate the lineup somewhat to allow a few new/inactive characters into each episode.

You can decide which episodes you wish to sign up for, and are only obligated to actively follow the game and post when your character is playing a lead role for that episode. Essentially, this means that you commit to this game in 2-3 month "chunks", allowing you to play for a few months, take a break for a few months, and then come back to play again. I do ask that if you are accepted as a lead for an episode you be prepared to remain actively involved in the game until the episode is complete. Lead characters who disappear without notice during an episode will be less likely to be selected as leads again in future episodes.

The game will begin once I have a roster of 6-8 characters for the pilot episode. Posting speed will be about once per day, slower on the weekends. Character death is a real possibility, be forewarned. Feel free to PM me with any questions. Please include a background for your character describing their occupation, habits, family, etc. Feel free to invent your own names for places and people from your background - though understand that the campaign centers around your character being suddenly separated from everything they have ever known. However, your background will play a role in the campaign, via flashbacks and plot tie-ins, so preferential treatment may be given to characters with a better developed background.
