It occurred to me why not a contest for the best villain created by a gm. Basically everyone can decide who the best villain, they have encountered in a game they participated in on this site, they cannot pick a villain they created themselves and they have to provide proof of the villains dastardliness.

do you want to know where their dreams come from? some showed the faith and some showed none

Doh, haven't had enough time to reveal my villains for the bastards they are yet >.<

An interesting idea. I'd like to see the nemesii (?) everyone's throwing at their players.

Unfortunately sammichweasel has probably hit on the biggest problem. Due to the slow nature of play how many games make it to the dastardly villain? If I had met even one so far I would put a vote in for him. :)

If this were best villain ever, not just this site, my vote is for Gary Oldman.

Not really any character he's played, but just Gary Oldman himself.
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

My guess would be that the plural of nemesis would be nemeses.

Heh, if anyone really understood (or could even identify) the main villains they were fighting, it would compromise the challenge of the game.

The only thing that comes to mind for me would be a quest-giving npc dragon in this dragonborn game I was playing, run by Lord_Lut. It was an exotic grey-scaled type that I assumed had some kind of petrifying breath attack, based on the discovery of a lifelike human statue in its lair, and then a whole bunch of lifelike adventurer statues in its horde. The dragon was supposed to be one of the good guys directing the party, but the discovery of those statues really made my paladin uneasy.

The party had urgent business elsewhere, so I let it go, but I wouldn't be surprised if the dragon showed up again later in the game under more sinister circumstances.

Edit: here's proof

I was once the villian in a game. It was actually the first game I joined on RPM. I saw a 'Wanted' post on WotC Forum for someome to play a villian. The DM had two threads. One for the 'Heroes' and one for my character.

I started out roughly the same level as the other group, but I was going solo, though I did pick up NPC minions along the way.

Often, I would explore a place and roughly defeat what was there and loot all the good stuff. The Heroes would come at a later date and see the signs of my work.

Eventually they started to get wind of me and intefere in some of the schemes I had set in motion. That officially brought them to my attention. So I started to set traps, false quest, and such for them.

My thread was blocked, so they couldn't see my actions. However I had a magical item that let me to scry on them. So their thread was open to me. I thoroughly enjoyed it, unfortunately RL stuff happened and the DM had to drop the game.

Hmm... magic item lets you scry on them at will... sounds like the DM was on your side. Would you call it 'metapolitik'?

If my memory is correct, they didn't have any means to block scrying. No spells or items themselves. In my experience, most PCs seem to forget about scrying, at least on them, and therefore don't protect themselves.

And the items wasn't really given to me. I had to go on a quest to get it. The funny thing was, I got the item from a wizard's tower after the 'Heroes' had cleared it out and killed the wizard that lived there. I proceeded to search the place. While explorering the bookcase, found a book that had it's pages removed and the magical scrying mirror was inside.

Unless the DM just added that, the 'Heroes' had just as good of a chance to get it.

True. The PC who spends his gp a cloak of misdirection is like the home owner who buys volcano insurance.

Reading back over the contests, this was probably one of the best we've had so far. :B
