I think he definitely works more as a rogue than a warrior. If you want, you can make him a dual-class, Rogue-Fighter or just keep him as a rogue. I'm confident you can handle either choice.
Ivyian was born in the village of Renaiz, south on the road from the city of Oudenarde in what is now Flanders. His father Lindar is a Master craftsmen of musical instruments, a singer, teller of tales, and skilled with bow and sword. Idrial his mother weaves, stitches and designs clothes. Unlike his parents and his many cousins, Ivyian was not born in Albion. Ivyian has never crossed the channel and even visited Albion, though he knows many elves who have left(fled) the continent for Albion’s promise of peace. Both his parents chose to stay despite the growing troubles between the Church led by Arch-Bishop Remus and demi-humans. Ivyian’ parents and other elves who remain, make a distinct differentiation between the Cross-Loving human tribes of Normans, Franks, and Flemish who make up the larger number of humans in the area and the pagan Gauls and gypsies. Ivyian and his kin distrust most members of the Church, the Flagellant priests in particular. The Gauls and gypsies on the other hand are accepted and taken on their merits. The elves often trade and aid the Gauls who live in the Forests and smaller villages much as the elves themselves. The Gypsies are wanderers and often have many gray elves traveling with them. They are always welcome for their news of other places and their trade goods and gambling and singing. Another reason the elves, Gauls and Gypsies band together, is that all three are persecuted under the decrees and laws of the Church. Ivyian’s parents don’t care for the Church or it’s laws, but they don’t confront it, not even secretly. Ivyian is not so patience and enduring. He chose to take after Kree and others by smuggling goods past the toll stations, Reeves(men who collect taxes on sins)the Excise Men(tax collectors). At first it was more a game than anything else to Ivyian. He never took it seriously, always seeing it more as a joke to be played on the Normans. Troubles started breaking out and soon few places in the countryside were safe for demi-humans. Men in red cloaks or wearing Red Sashes started raiding isolated farms and attacking small groups of traders on the roads. The tithes and taxes went up as well, all demi-human taxes rose up to 50% in some places and everywhere but the City of Falcon’s Points, demi-humans and Gauls had to pay more for the same goods, food, and rooms at Inns. This of course led to more smuggling and hiding from the Normans and more violent confrontations between Normans and Gauls. Then humanoids came flooding south from the Blackmoors, the Frost March and the Frisian Marshes and nobody was safe. Ivyian’s family took refuge with Sir Danyon Dufour and Lady Austri Godarte in their walled manor outside the city of Courtray. Lady Austri is Sir Ranulf Godarte’s sister and Sir Alexandre Godarte’s aunt. Sir Danyon is the illegitimate son of Sir Bernard Dufour of Rouen and Sir Alexandre Godarte’s half brother. When Sir Ranulf was found guilty of opening St. Dirk’s gate during the Winter Wars, his lands and titles were stripped from his heirs and they were cast to the wind. Miriam Godarte, Sir Ranulf’s wife and Sir Alexandre Godarte’s mother was taken in by the jealous and salacious brother of Sir Ranulf, Sir Bernard Dufour of Rouen. Miriam didn’t stay with Dufour’s for long. Bernard had Miriam consigned to an Abbey as a nun and forced her to take an oath of silence and obedience. Nine months later Danyon was born. Danyon now stays in Courtray because his father doesn’t want him around and has tried to kill him several times. Danyon was never able to prove any of this and Bernard would have most likely succeeded eventually if not for the aid of Lord Demars of Silvermist in Artois. Lord Demars raised Danyon and arranged for Danyon and Lady Austri to stay at the manor. Ivyian later learned that this “Lord Demars,” was a member of the Sword Sworn and that “Sir” Danyon was trying to become a member as well. Danyon recognized the talents and drive in Ivyian and took him under his wing to further Ivyian’s education in the fine arts of smuggling, kidnapping, stealing, and causing mayhem for their Flemish and Norman overlords. It later became his chosen profession and when war broke out, it became his calling. Some of the first people he helped(smuggled out)out of Flanders were his own parents and family. Ivyian watched them sail to Albion five years ago. He hasn’t seen them since. He has had contact though. His mother usually writes him every six months. Almhorn is an older, 1/2elven Ranger-archer and friend of Danyon’s and the Demars. He often helps them when he is around. Ivyian would get the definite impression that Almhorn is more involved fighting the Normans than just smuggling. Ivyian thinks Almhorn might be a member of the Orange Order, a secret society in open rebellion against Duke Leonard(the supposed ruler of Flanders-Brabant)and Arch-Bishop Remus, who ordained Leonard as Duke of Flanders-Brabant. Brother Dreosan is a neutral good priest of St. Silva. He usually operates in the rural areas around Falcon’s Point and Antwerp. Brother Dreosan is good friends with many druids, elves and gauls and is wanted for acts of insurrection by Bishop Remus and Duke Leonard. There is a price of three thousand silvers on Brother Dreosan’s head. Sir Danyon has no price on his head, few people even suspect him of any treachery or illegal acts. That’s one of the things he has taught Ivyian and all the others he leads, “Leave no Calling Card or tell tale sign. Leave nothing for your foes to track or pursue.” At first Ivyian mostly smuggled food and farm implements, nothing romantic or exciting about it. It did help him hone his skills and learn the roads and ways of the foe. Sir Danyon hired a number of Welsh archers as extra guards for a trip. Ivyian was asked to come along. This was his first important mission, they were escorting Lady Leona Demars, the sister of Lord Demars and an enemy of Queen Lucienne de Rochefort, the Queen of Normandy. Lady Leona is one of the few clergy members to openly speak out against Arch-bishop Remus and has his crimes. She is a priestess of the outlawed Saint Gabriel. They traveled to Brittany for the Yule Tide Celebration safely and without trouble. Ivyian would have seen Brandon Ashwood on this trip, but he hasn’t really spoken to the young archer.
St. Hardig-NG-The Patron Saint of Undead Slayers, Rogues, sailors, fishermen and folk who make their living from the Sea. His weapon of choice is the Sword The Sword Sworn
The Sword Sworn are all followers of St. Hardig and St. Dirk. They operate outside the Church and any laws of any land to achieve their ends when necessary. Many of them are rogues and bards, a fair number of them are dual class rogues/clerics or fighter/rogues. They specialize in spying and smuggling to aid the Free Peoples of the West and keep themselves from poverty. All of the Sword Sworn are of good alignment. Sects of them work with the Judicators and some of the Ranger groups, but considering the nature of their work and their character in general, the majority of them prefer to stay away from Judicators, paladins, and cavaliers. The Sword Sworn have no central authority or command. Groups of Sword Sworn regularly work in the same city independently of one another. They stay in touch and aware of each other through their members of the clergy or the managers of orphanages. All members of the Sword Sworn are required to give time, money, and goods, to help out orphans and sponsored orphanages. Some of the more influential and well known members of the Sword Sworn are Askyr, the Bishop of Antwerp, famous for his ability at dispatching the undead, and the cleric/mystic of Hardig, Geoff Archer, who said to have the gift of foresight. Geoff often stays in Falcon’s Point for several weeks at a time before moving on to the other parts of Flanders and Artois. He will spend two to three weeks moving through the countryside, visiting temples, chapels, and churches throughout Flanders before returning to Falcon’s Point. The dragon King has tried on several occasions to kill Geoff and regularly hires assassins to kill the priest. All his attempts have so far failed. The one time Hoark came after Geoff personally, the cleric fled to the Magewood and Hoark would not chase him further. The border of the Magewood stopped the dragon, but nobody knows why. Sydney of St. Albans and Selena of Whitecliff Abbey and their followers are the Sword Sworn's most bitter and hate foes.
