Characters:
Gorth (LP) Action Points: 6
Rowelliam (LP) Action Points: 6
Tyi Ko'rrin (LP) Action Points: 5
Zazi (LP) Action Points: 3
Party Loot (LP)
- At first level you have 5 action points. Each time you attain a
new level you gain a fresh supply of action points equal to 5 + 1/2 your
character level, rounded down. Any unspent action points that you
didn't spend at your previous level are lost.
- You may spend an action point to add a d6 to the result of an
attack roll, skill check, ability check, level check, or a saving throw.
- You may spend 2 action points to gain another use of a class
feature that has limited uses per day. Examples: bardic music, rage,
smite evil.
- An artificer may spend an action point to imbue an infusion in one
round, even if its casting time is normally longer than one round.
- You may spend 1 action point to stabilize when dying.
- You can only spend action points once in a round. However, you can spend more than one action point in a single instance. Example: Spending 2 action pts. to gain another use of bardic music. You cannot, as an example, spend an action pt. on a tumble check and then on an attack roll.
- You may spend an action point to an improve an die roll that has already been made, provided that the GM has not told you whether the result would be successful or not.
- Action points cannot normally be used to improve a damage roll.
- You cannot spend an action point for an roll after you making any determination about it's effect, success, or failure. Examples: You cannot spend an action point for an attack roll after you've rolled damage for that attack. You cannot spend an action point for an attack roll after you have rolled miss chance. You cannot spend an action point on a spell penetration roll after you have rolled for spell failure.
- Exception to the above - Since I will usually tell you the DCs of any saving throws that you need to make, you must include your action point in that die roll. For saves, you can not spend after the roll has been made.
Certain feats change the amount of action points gained, it's die type, and may even provide new ways to use your action points.
Don't be too stingy with your action points! You get plenty and you can't save them up. Best to spend them all before your next level provides you with a whole new supply.

Rowelliam was born into a family of elves that had a rich tradition of working with information, or in other words...spying. When he had a least dragonmark manifest, it made his family very happy. What did not make them happy is that he was not interested in, or particularly good, at his family business. He had no interest in becoming a bold rogue or a diplomat. He wanted to study and make magic items. His father thought this was a huge waste for one who was blessed with a dragonmark.
Rowelliam, or Rowell to his friends, stayed obstinate and trained to become an artificer. His family would never disown him for this choice, as they did know that artificers could grow to power and had their uses, but they were not warm to his choice of professions. Getting sick of the attitude, but being very young for an elf, he was trying to find a way to stay in Sharn, but find a way to live away from the family enclave and get some privacy and a chance to forge his own destiny.
The gnomes contacted him in Sharn and attempted to recruit him into their guild. Seemed like the perfect fit!

Seeing as he's got a decent cha score, may I request that you put some skill points into diplomacy? We're currently in need of a 'face' for the party - someone who can negotiate contracts and smooth over the diplomatic blunders the rest of us are bound to make. Even though he chose not to practice diplomacy professionally, I'd like to shoehorn him into that role anyways.

That makes sense..he would have learned some in the past whether he liked it or not. No problem. Crazy work due to overtime...I will finish him up in a couple days.
Haven't made a character in a while and its taking longer than I remember.

Go ahead and post in the game thread while you finish up your character (describing your character, etc). Your character ate something that disagreed with him and couldn't make it to the play. That's why he wasn't around at the beginning of the adventure.

Lets see if I have this right. To create a normal 1st level arcane or divine scroll will cost 1xp and 12.5 GP I will have two rolls to create it. 1 because it takes less than a day to create and 1 last ditch effort if the first attempt fails.
I will need to get 21 or better to create it, and I have a +8 on my UMD roll. (did I miss any plusses an artificer gets on UMD?)
Right??
I only have enough money to make two scrolls, so I will first attempt a divine scroll of cause fear. I will use second attempt to retry that if I fail. If i do create it, my second attempt will be Arcane scroll of enlarge person.
The two attempts will cost 25 gp and 2 xp from my pool.
Scroll one, first and second attempt if needed. Roll: 1d20(2)+8 = 10 Roll: 1d20(18)+8 = 26
Scroll two, first and second attempt if needed. Roll: 1d20(16)+8 = 24 Roll: 1d20(10)+8 = 18
Both attempts reached 21 and made it, so I will place both on character sheet. I have a total of 5GP left over to my name.

It looks like you are using html to make your die rolls. The html runs whenever the post is loaded up so it changes if you edit it.
Try using the Secure Die Roller. It's the red button on the bottom of the screen. Dice rolled in the Secure Die Roller cannot be changed, even if you delete the post they will show up on the very next post.
You'll see an example of the output after this post. Since my rolls agree with all of yours, use them if you want (120 gold, success on both scrolls). Just remember to use the Secure Die Roller for your future rolls. Secure Rolls: Money 5d4{(2)(3)(1)(3)(3)} = 12 Scroll 1 1d20(16)+8 = 24 Scroll 1 (2nd attempt) 1d20(5)+8 = 13 Scroll 2 (1st attempt) 1d20(17)+8 = 25 Scroll 2 (2nd attempt) 1d20(13)+8 = 21

Uggh, I forgot it earlier, tho it made no difference. I get +3 for a total of +11 on my UMD checks due to my feat, skill focus UMD.
I added it to the character sheet.

Reached 2nd Level!
HP gained, 4. I rolled dice, not sure if that is how we are doing it or not. Just let me know if we are doing it another way.
BAB +1 Will Save goes up one. Brew Potion Feat. Craft Reserve of 40. Gain +7 skill points Used on UMD, Spellcraft, Concentration, Appraise, Knowledge: Arcana, Diplomacy and Gather info. Synergies! +5 ranks of Knowledge Arcana give me +2 to Spellcraft. +5 spellcraft give me +2 to UMD checks relating to scrolls +5 to UMD gives +2 to spellcraft when using it to decipher what spell is on a scroll. 4 infusions per day. Earned 610 GP at end of Final 1st level adventure.
Before leveling I used the rest of my craft reserve from Level 1 and created 7 scrolls with 12 1st level spells on them. Cost 150 GP.
This leaves me with 460 GP plus 5 I had earlier, for a total of 465 GP.
Secure Rolls: Level 2 Hit Points 1d6(3)+1 = 4

Gold earned at the end of 1st adventure changed with re-allocation of loot (Klem's gear was not sold). After changes it's 575.17
That would leave you with 435.17 gp

Reminder note for self:
Gave 5 Silver to Jormot and family. He was a farmer, she was an accomplished baker. I want to try to see if I can find a job for them in Sharn.
UPDATE: 03-28-13 Rowelliam discovers that the scroll contains two spells. The first is Comprehend Languages the other is Summon Monster III (arcane versions).
Although Rowelliam refused offers to join House Phiarlan, his retains strong connection. The favor of finding work for Jormot and his wife, is minor. After heading to the theater district to speak to his cousin, Rowelliam is directed to Gailan's dinner theater.
Gailan's is the one bright spot in the rather bawdy district of Torchfire, a model of restaurant dinner theater copied in districts elsewhere. Gailan's baker quit just recently, so there is an opening. He also needs someone to wash the dishes. The pay is... bad, but better than elsewhere in Torchfire and much better than some other jobs. It is enough for the family to feed themselves and even rent a room in a boarding house in a safe neighborhood until they can find an apartment somewhere.
Secure Rolls: first aid 1d20(17) = 17
