The Smoke mine
Location: Anywhere in the mountains, somewhere in a volcano.
Flavor:
"I wonder trusk. Is this place really worth the risk?" Trusk looked up from his blade sharpening work and looked down at the smaller orc, golaf, who just lost him his concentration. "I mean, it is hanging above a volcano." the pesky orc muttered on. "Exactly!" Trusk emphasised his word by bashing his hand on the old dwarven table. "Can you think of a better protected stronghold than one surrounded by lava?" Golaf thought about that for a second. "It ain't really surrounded by..." Trusk interrupted him "Whatever, what is good about it is that it is strong. And besides..." Trusks lowers his voice a bit "You don't want to let Trahand know you are worried about his choice, do you? That could cost you your ugly head." "But..." The small orc protested. "No Buts Golaf!! Now get me some water, its getting hot in here again."
description:
The smoke mine hangs by several chain systems inside the center of a volcano. A few bridges connect the city to the rest of the volcano tunnel systems. The smoke mine has the form of an cube, the bottom side is a giant funnel designed to direct the hot steam of the volcano trough the machinery of the city. If the volcano erupts the city is protected by a strong outer layer that wraps around the city controlled by the machinery within. The inners of the city are filled with refinery's that grinds the stones mined in the volcano mountain and forges that use the volcano's heat to melt even the strongest of metals.
When eruption occurs the city floats on the lava bursting out of the volcano and the chains hold it down instead of up.
History:
The smoke mine is old and forgotten. The city is build by dwarves in times the volcano was still working frequently It is build to harvest the steam and smoke almost constantly spuwt forth by the volcano when it is active. Goblenoids who wished to drive the dwarven out of the mountain tried to cut the city lose when the miners retreated to the mighty fortified cube. They didn't succeeded because the heavy chains where extra etched into the mountain because of the layers of coagulated lava surrounding there etching points.
However, now that the volcano has died the city was abandoned, left hanging in the volcano, the goblenoids that once tried to destroy the powerful city now inhabited it. They do not know how to work the machinery's but don't need to because the volcano is not working any longer anyhow.
Recently rumors has it the volcano is starting to work again. The dwarven (and other miners) don't want the city destroyed by the volcano now that it might become useful again and wish to drive the goblenoids out before there ignorance destroys the city. The goblenoids however don't believe a word of the warnings the dwarven give them about the soon to be active volcano and are not planning to leave any time soon.

Walrry is the dwarven general in charge of ridding the volcano of goblenoids.
Lady Marnys Stoneheart
Marnys is a strong dwarven lady in charge of the mining group wishing to inhabit the smoke mine. She if fairly indifferent to persons from other races joining her group as long as they work hard.
Warlord Trahand
Trahand is the Orc leader currently in charge of the clan inhabiting the smoke mine.
