Greyhawk

The World of Greyhawk, as re-envisioned by me. Characters start in the village of Hommlett at 1st level, and will encounter many of the classic adventures of D&D: Slave Lords, Giants, and the Temple of Elemental Evil will all make appearances, albeit significantly changed from the originals. Should be enough nostalgia for the old-time gamers and enough new material for the kids to keep everyone happy.

Characters:
Belar (LP)
Desro (LP)
Gavion Tath (LP)
Josef (LP)
Magua (LP)
Slorak (LP)
Vamcill Steinbinge (LP)

Belar smiles, "It is yours, fairly. But I meant what I said earlier, you should take it anyway, I truly am better suited to healing than fighting." Looking at the items on the table, "I have this feeling that we may come across more items, if not in the mansion when we further search it, but also if we continue to work together. The money from the unsold items will be easy to split, too. It'll work out."

Belar then picks up the sending stone and looks over to Josef, "Let's see who, if anyone, answers."

Not exactly sure how this works, he holds the sending stone in his fist, concentrates while saying, "Hello, where are you right now?"

"Lets see what kind of answer that basic question gets us."

Belar concentrates on the stone, and then suddenly his face contorts into a mask of fear. He drops like a stone, all of his limbs going slack at once. The sending stone rolls out of his hand and comes to rest under the table.

"Belar!" Desro jumps to catch the priest, making sure not to come near the stone as he sets his friend down.

Desro tries to wake him. "Belar, what happened? Are you alright?"

Opening his eyelids just a bit, Belar sees Desro standing over him talking very loudly.
Squinting his eyes shut again very tightly, his hands reaching up to his face, Belar puts a finger in each of his ears.

"Oooooo. My head." He says very quietly.

"Give me a minute to just lie here."

OOC: Sorry for the extended absence. Work has been kicking my ass lately... I am almost caught up and can post regularly again...

Rushing to Belar as he drops the stone...

"Take your time... Rest for a minute..."

After making sure Belar is ok Josef, as he listens to Belar account of the incident, removes his old armor and puts on the chainmail. He puts his old armor into his backpack.

OOC: I think the pearl of power is best suited for Belor. I don't think I will find anything useful and will take a gold cut instead.

After a bit of rubbing his temples Belar slowly get up to a sitting position and then stands with the help of Desro and Slorak.
"Wow. I am fine, but that was not pleasant."

"I got an answer almost immediately when I used the sending stone. The person answered back, 'Why have you failed to report for so long? The Master is impatient!'

Then there was silence for a second or two and then some awful feedback or loud noise that sent me reeling. What do you think? Did they figure out I wasn't the right person on the stone or were they just punishing their cohort for not being quick enough in reporting back to them? "

OOC: I could take the pearl and use it if no one else wants it. If any of the other spellcasters want it, though, they should speak up.

I suddenly look around the room in surprise.....
"Did I just fall asleep in my chair? Wonderful"
I look around the room sheepishly...
"Did I miss anything?"

Noticing that everyone is finally splitting up the loot...

"Just give whatever you want...as long as I get payed for rescuing the kids, I'll be fine."
OOC: I'm back!

ooc: welcome back, Massam and Slorak!

ooc: on loot division - you didn't take the value of the magic items into account when splitting the cash - because you didn't know what they were. However, you now have 1400gp of gems from the book you "sold" to Burne. Assuming you used half the value of an item as what you could sell it for, the armor would be worth 625gp, the pearl of power 500gp, the +1 arrows are worth 20gp each, and the sending stone is worth nothing until you get it's twin. The arcane scroll is worth 25gp. So that's a total of 2610gp worth - 1/7th share of that is 372gp worth. No way to divide it evenly, so one person could take the armor, one could take the pearl, another could take the arrow and 3 gems, one could take the scroll and 3 gems, and the other two folks get 4 gems.

Note that the pearl of power only works for classes that prepare spells, not spontaneous casters.

I won't normally get involved in treasure division since it's up to you how you handle it, but I thought since people had been in and out recently it would be good to remind everyone where we are and what;s left to be divyed up.

OOC: Since it needs to be a caster who prepares spells, Yep, I'll take the pearl rather than want to sell it for 500, if thats ok with everyone. And it'll give me another potential healing spell a day!

"Hmmm. Was the pain too great for you to talk again into the stone? I am wondering if it was the priest that failed to report and to whom was he reporting... We could follow up with it...

Otherwise I personally have no interest in persuing the bandits. We have already driven them from town and received our reward for returning the boys. One could spend a lifetime killing bandits and still have work to do in another lifetime. I am not against killing bandits I just don't see the profit in this one. I say we clear out the house and take up residence there. If they decide to come back we deal with them there.

What is this I hear about goblins? Is there a known threat?"

As you chat and divide up the loot, you become aware of some noise outside. What started as the sound of normal passersby has grown slightly, with the noise of several vocies and the whinnies of horses in the distance. It happens gradually, so you didn't really notice the change until now.

You are just about to stick your heads outside to investigate when a small shadow darts past the open doorway. You hear a faint giggle as it passes and tosses something into the room. The small object hits a coatrack near the door and bursts, spewing flaming liquid across the wall and engulfing the coatrack in flames. Shouts of alarm from the common room and mirrored by yells of surprise from outside.

Everyone roll initiative, and a spot and listen check.
