Azaran looks at youIenken"They are friendly, but I'm guessing our business is a bit more...local. That is, we just annoyed a dock captain and stole a boat. We didn't piss off the king for him to send some sort of message to Narrowguard. I'm guessing we could just sail into Narrowgaurd and tell the harbormaster we're 'out to see the city'." and he smiles, satisfied at his plan. He sits near the wheel in a chair that's nailed to the floor, and takes a needle out smiling. He begins to poke his arms in a strange manner as you go an explore the ship a bit deeper.

You search the entire boat and it takes you some time; perhaps 2 hours as you go room by room. You don't see much of valuables-- There is a collection of odd knives and tools in a small black box- like what a doctor or healer might use, some basic tools for furniture repair, and some sailing tools (compass, astrolabe, etc) near the wheel. There's some clothing in a trunk, as well as pretty full larder, though most of it is non-perishable. (rice, beans, etc)

GM Note: Let me know if anyone else wants to do something in the ~ 2 hours it's taking Ienken to search. If not, I'll move us along.

GM Note: Since some time has gone by and there's been no further posting, I'll move us along...

You gather up what items of those that seem useful or interesting and head back to the top. Azaran looks down to you from the wheelhouse, half turning to meet you while still steering the boat. "Find..." is all that comes out and he stops, turning around completely to face aft with his jaw as low as you've seen it in surprise.
"That's impossible....They couldn't be catching up..." you hear him mumble and he disappears back into the boathouse for a moment. He returns a few seconds later with a spyglass and peers outward behind the ship. You look backward in curiosity as to what might have got him so riled up and can see it--- but only barely.

A square sail, looming over the horizon.

Dioclese walks calmly over to the mast and sits down next to the charcoal pencil he had managed to stick between some boards.

Azaran nods, as he studies the boat with the spyglass. "Yes. Given they're in a warship, there's no way they should be able to catch up with us...This is a much smaller and streamlined vessel...I think they're gaining on us too." he frowns and grumbles as he continues to study them.

You can see Dioclese's lips moving as if he's whispering something to himself.

Eidolon also looks back. He struggles to pick out the blurry dot on the horizon amid the sun drenched glare from the water. He thinks he sees what they are referring but gives up trying due to the pain it causes his eyes. He drops his head back into the protective darkness of his hood and looks to Dioclese. Questioning the elderly man he says "Do you think we will make it to Narrowguard before they'll catch us?"

The old man looks at you and smiles Eidolon beneath the metal helmet he wears. He answers oddly.
"Everyone go downstairs...preferably as low as you can. They won't see us that way. Might look a bit odd people simply floating above the water...."

Who's going to steer the ship, Professor?" Azaran yells sarcastically from the wheelhouse.

"Lock the wheel in place Master Hunter." he responds. "The seas are not so rough where we'll get off course, or roll over. The odds of us hitting something are 17 million 345 thousand to 1." he smiles. "You're just going to have to trust me.... If I complete the equation on the mast, known as Liouville’s Equation, the odds of them catching us decrease to 1 in 500 thousand... give or take. If I do not, the odds they catch us are 10 thousand to 1...pretty certain, I'd say....Not going below still decreases that, but there are too many variables for me to calculate that equation accurately." and he shrugs, looking to the group.

Hide downstairs? The advice doesn't seem to make much sense to Eidolon as the ship will still be seen. Do nothing and hope they don't catch us seems a strange ploy. The young necrologist would prefer to be doing something. At least if they were caught it wouldn't be through lack of trying. However, having no skill in sailing, he couldn't think of anything he could do to improve their situation. Instead he shrugs and heads into the cabin and takes a spot looking out one of the port holes so he can watch the approaching ship.

Kilori and Eidolon You head downstairs, with Kilori looking around the lower level and Eidolon pulling up next to a small port hole that allows some limited light. Ienken comes down a few moments later, and Azaran steps through the door a few moments after. Grumbling to himself in a language that you don't understand.

As you stand/sit there, the boat around you suddenly vanishes, and, since you're a bit below the water line, the walls of water-- as if you're in a liquid canyon-- appear around you. You brace yourself for the collapse and your imminent sinking into the abyss of water below you, but it never comes. You stay exactly as you are, though you squint at the sudden bright light around you....

You look around and notice Azaran has his sword in his hand, and you all whirl to look 'up' at the old man. He wanders about, arms flailing as he oddly stands in mid-air some dozen feet above you. He says something, but you can't hear him.
"Damn fool... not sure if he's crazy, or a genius....Though I still see some complications, considering I can't see the sail..." Azaran mumbles, sheathing his sword. His glow intensifies, and he pulls a black cloak from a pack he has. You're not sure where he got either. He reaches out as if trying to find a wall...

Eidolon is thinking along similar lines to Azaran. "I hear you Azaran. His methods are certainly unconventional. We'll see if they are effective." He looks around as though trying to see the invisible ship. "Neat trick though I will admit."

Azaran frowns at Kilori."I think you overestimate your own abilities, and underestimate mine....Still... he considers. "I do still owe him from the Saidist's Dungeon. he did take the blindfold off my face." He bangs into something with a THUMP and scowls, muttering a curse, and looks up to the man responsible. His scowl turns into an amused smile. Dioclese seems to using his large iron staff as blind-man's stick, likely trying to find the invisible door to the area below you now reside in.He dances around, looking a bit foolish in field plate that covers most of his body, appearing as lanky and awkward as a 14 year old in a school dance. Azaran turns back to the challenge at hand. "I think the wall is here..." he states simply, as he begins to trace around the room. He nods and pulls a spike and some thin rope from the backpack. He slams a spike in near the floor, and starts heading around the room with the rope crouching every so often. He trips suddenly and tumbles forward, landing in a crouch. ""Chair..." he grumbles, sighing, as he searches for the doorway.

Eidolon There is no sign of the ship or any of its contents and the only thing visible is anything that the 'crew' (you!) had on your possession. You look down, and can even see fish swimming around. Some even swim up to the waterline-- just above your head. You're not sure what's going to happen if a shark saunters by...

GM Note: No Worries Ienken- I think you said before your internet connection was frazzly....

Azaran seems to ignore you Kilori as he fumbles with finding the invisible doorway on the newly made invisible boat. He stumbles a few times over something in the way, though what it is, you have no idea.

Ienken Given how low the boat was on the horizon, you'd likely need to be at least somewhere on the deck, or even higher. You too join the hunt for the ladder and door, and you follow Azaran's safety line around the estimated perimeter of the room. After a few minutes, Azaran runs out of rope.
"Ah ha!" He exclaims triumphantly, as he places a foot strangely in mid-air. He ties the end only barely to something and the knot simply hangs there. The sight gets stranger as he seems to rise up on the ladder you assumed he found, into the air to stand there after feeling around a bit.
"Door..." he grumbles annoyed and motions to open something that is not there to the eye.
He walks 'out', hovering there and moving he arms about under the black cloak as he searches for the mast and rigging.
"Might take a bit for them to alter course...If they had even spotted us at all..." Azaran yells as if thinking the same thing Ienken, though anything else is cut short by the sound of the invisible door slamming shut.
