 Elf Raider 9 - DEAD

 Elf Raider 3 - DEAD

 Elf Archer 1 - DEAD

Cyrus disappears in burst of black sand as he springs to his feet. The sands swirl around the raider and the crodlu, slicing at both their flesh and their souls (-21 hp, ongoing 5). Unseen by all, he reforms behind the group focusing on the rider and mount. Reaching deep into his resolve, he forces his body into overdrive and brutally bashes two of the raiders with his bare fists (-33 hp), killing one and beating the second bloody.
(OOC: Because E3 is granting CA, your initial roll was actually a hit, so you do not need to use your Heroic Effort.)

Kalla assaults the raider hovering over K'kikrik with a series of punches and kicks (-14 hp); and though the elf is able to block a good deal of them, he is bloodied for his efforts.
(OOC: Your daily missed, but you were still able to slide him with your flurry of blows.)

Not liking the current situation, K'kikrik reaches deep into his psyche and channels mental energy into his attack against the crodlu. Despite (or perhaps because of) the angle as he attacks from the ground, the falchion connects with a resounding blow (-12 hp) and the mental energy explodes outwards, knocking back all nearby that the thri-kreen perceives as a foe. He then regains his feet and hefts his falchion once more.

The elf on the boulder moves over a bit to get a better bead on the brawler that just beat on his fellow raider. The bone weapon once again finds purchase and would have undone Nala's recent healing if it hadn't been for her whirlwind's protection (-11 temp hp).

The raider sees an opening where he can get close to two of the travelers, but the swarm of insects he would have to move into does not look appealing. Instead, he tries once more to disperse the whirling whisp of sand that seems to be helping the foes. His efforts remain futile.

This elf was beginning to suspect this group was much more than a wayward noble and her protectors traveling through the night. With the eldru continually spitting up swarms of bugs, it's rider healing wounds as fast as the raiders could inflect them, the odd gith that kept spinning and dancing back and forth across the road, and the shape shifting human that just downed one of his companions. Bloodied and realizing he had inadvertently become surrounded by foes, he began to actually question the tribe's ability to pull this ambush off. He cast about for their leader, and found him facing off against the half-giant a ways up the road. Seeing his courage in the face of such a large foe strengthened his own resolve, and he quickly set about seeking a target for his next attack. They'd been ordered to take eldru alive, so a number of his tribe had surrounded it and started trying to take down the rider. Though they were having a surprisingly tough time of that, he realized he hadn't seen her actually do much damage, unlike the human he was now standing next to. That one had just severely wounded three of his tribe, and killed a fourth. Yes, he was a true threat, so he decided to shift his focus to him. Shifting a bit to escape the cloud of insects, he spun on his heal and slashed at the human with the bone longsword he was carrying. The blade caught (-6 hp) and the elf is a bit disturbered to see sand seeping out of the wound rather than blood.

Stepping into a spot vacated by a fallen companion, the elf slashes at Shanala with his longsword. His efforts are foiled when he slips on a pool of blood, but he uses the momentum of his stumble to manage a second swing at her, but it too misses the mark.

The wrangler moves in behind Vimak and swings his longsword at the large fellow, but the blade bounces of his armor. He manages a second attack using the momentum of the first to swing his blade in a large arc, but the attack is so obvious that the half-giant is able to side step it with ease.

"I'm not sure if I should be flattered or insulted by your ignorance," the young looking elf says as he steps back off the road and strings another arrow onto his bow. "I'll be sure to give my brother your regards, as well as your tongue, when he returns from bargaining with the gith in the area." As he speaks, he lets the arrow fly and, for a moment, it looks like it was going to miss Vimak. But a twist of luck causes it to strike home. The shaft burries itself deep into the half-giant's trunk, nearly bringing him down (-20 hp).

Surprised by being pushed back by it's foe, the crodlu shakes it's head and springs forward towards the 'kreen once more. Only the beak hits, but it merely chips away some of the sandy armor Shanala had granted him (-7 temp hp).

One of the archers hiding on the large boulder takes a shot at the 'kreen as well, but, the chatkcha doesn't even come close to hitting.

"Die already!," screams one of the elves as he slashes at Nala with his longsword (-5 hp), clearly frustrated with how the battle is going.

Not wanting to expose himself to attacks from two enemies again, the elf lashes out at Kalla with his shortsword, landing a solid blow; removing the last of Shanala's protection and leaving a deep wound (-2 temp hp, -10 hp).

The second archer pops up and also hits Kalla with a blow from his chatkcha (-5 hp), then drops back down out of sight.

 Elf Raider 9 - DEAD

Not quite understanding why he's not dead, Rakskon jumps to his feet and rushes towards the right side, of the road, disappearing behind the rocks there.

The raider winces in pain as the wound inflicted by the human shape-shifter continues to bleed profusely (-5 hp). He turns and finds the foe in questions then slips up behind him tries to run him through with his shortsword, but the pain of the bleeding wound throws off his aim and he merely succeeds in aggravating the wound and giving himself away.

Seeing a foe to either side, the elf slashes at them both just before he retreats back down the road a bit. He laughs heartily as both targets are hit (-5 hp Shanala, -13 hp Cyrus), though he does look a bit concerned as his tactic left him open to reprisal from both as well (Both Cyrus and Shanala get an OA vs E5 - don't forget he is granting CA).

 Elf Raider 3 - DEAD

 Elf Archer 1 - DEAD

Happy to have the shape-shifting human focus his attention elsewhere, the sniper takes advantage of the distraction and throws his chatkcha at Cyrus, though it misses by a close margin.

 Elf Raider 4 - DEAD

 Elf Raider 9 - DEAD

 Elf Raider 5 - DEAD

As the elf tries to back down the road, Cyrus rewards his efforts with a vicious slam. The raider falls to the dusty road, looking quite desiccated. He obviously won't be getting up again.

 Elf Raider 3 - DEAD

 Elf Archer 1 - DEAD

Vimak curses the elf with the bow and pitches forward onto the road, feigning death. While lying there, he summons forth inner reserves and is able to wash away some of the pain from the wounds that have been inflicted upon him (+15 hp).

Ailthyra uses her command of the insect world to summon forth another cloud of insects. This time, however, they are larger and most tend to cling to those they climb up on despite efforts to shake them off. She targets, and hits the the elves behind her (-17 hp each, slowed and cannot shift (save ends both)).

Nala commands the swirling desert spirit nearer to her, then has it lash out at one of the raiders, battering him with sand and pebbles. One of the larger stones strikes him on the temple and he falls to ground in a crumpled heap. (+3 temp hp to Nala and Kalla.)

The crodlu whips around and follows it's prey, springing into the air to attack with both it's claws and beak. Both hit, ripping huge chunks of flesh from Cyrus and knocking him prone (-18 hp and prone). The shape-shifting human falls beneath the weight of the flightless bird and does not stir.

The 'kreen suddenly springs to life with a ferocity it had not exhibited before. Mimicking Kalla, he tears into the foes around him with claw and foot and leaves three, broken and bleeding bodies in his wake.

 Elf Raider 7 - DEAD

Seeing the explosive violence of the thri-kreen, the raider tires to take a step back, but is prevented from doing so by the large insects clinging to him. He manages to wipe and swat them all off, but a look of panic and doubt spreads across his face as he does so.

The raider steps slightly away from the prone body and moves within reach of the mounted rider. With a quick thrust while she's distracted, the manages to draw blood from her (-6 hp).

The elf mirrors the efforts of his companion on the other side of Nala, and he is rewarded with her blood as well (-6 hp).

With the half-giant fallen, the crodlu wrangler turns and hurries back down the road to try and assess the condition of his charge that has recently fallen.

The young looking elf studies Viamk for a moment, then takes a step back into the deeper sand and notches another arrow. A sadistic smile crinkles the left corner of his mouth as he takes aim at the prone fighter. But before he releases the arrow, he notices the sound of battle seems to be dying down. Glancing up for a moment, he sees nearly half of his group bleeding out into the sand, and most of the travelers still standing. He quickly eases the tension off the bow string and, putting fingers to mouth, gives a loud, lilting and piercing whistly. "Looks like you get to live another day," he says to foe laying in the sand in front of him. "But I'm willing to bet Issdiss will call for YOUR head. If so, we'll see each other again." He then turns and sprints off into the sand to the northwest.

 War Crodlu 1 - DEAD

The whistle has an immediate effect on the raiding party. One of the archers that had been snipping from the top of the large rock off to the right jumps up and scurries off the northern face of it, onto a smaller boulder and then sprints off into the dessert to the east.

 Elf Raider 4 - DEAD

 Elf Raider 8 - DEAD

 Elf Archer 4 - DEAD

The other sniper on top of the huge boulder follows his companion, though he doesn't get as far.

 Elf Raider 9 - DEAD

Rakskon had been headed around the giant boulder to take out the two snipers. Seeing them run now enrages him and he sprints after the closest one, sinking his dagger deep into the fleeing elf's back. The raider drops to the ground dead.

 Elf Raider 2 - DEAD

Hearing the whistle, the raider turns to run off to the west, but the wound he suffered at the hands (claws?) of the shape-shifter prove too much, and he collapses on the sand.

 Elf Raider 5 - DEAD

 Elf Raider 3 - DEAD

 Elf Archer 1 - DEAD

The remaining sniper jumps up and begins sprinting west across the scree and sand.

At first vimak assumed the whistle was the air moving over the surface of the arrow that would bring him to an end, but the end never came and he heard footsteps moving away. In all directions.

He picked himself from the ground looking toward the young elf to make sure the arrow is not coming back in. He is kicking himself for his mistake with that particular elf, but that mistake won't be made next time.

I pick his axe up from the ground and looks back toward the group. He realized he distanced himself the group and begins to move back with all haste
