Ivyian scans the room, his eyes quickly adjusting to the candlelight. Elspeth frowns at Lysia and starts shaking her head in resignation. She hands the young girl a gold crown(Crowns are worth 10gold)and Lysia at first almost faints, then leaps up and down for a couple of minutes until Elspeth shushes her and sends her skipping and twirling out another door at the far side of the room. Elspeth looks up at him, still shaking her head, but smiling now,Come on down Ivyian. It seems Lysia and I both picked the same target. She was suppossed to introduce herself and see if 'you' were interested in joining up with me. Seeing as I already picked you out and made the offer...she did her job, it's only right I paid her. You've heard the name I'm certain, and she points to the man sitting closest to her,This is Captain Glendower, to his left, she stops, uncertain of what to say. Sitting there in a voluminous red robe that completely covers most of his body is a mage. He stands up, waving to Ivyian. His face is dark bronze, framed by blueish black hair that curls down to his neck. He looks around the room with eyes the color of volcanic ash and stops at Ivyian. He speaks in a deliberate and quiet manner,I am Megara's son, Vastocio, sitting next to me is Gaspar of York. I am heartened to see the fair folk still concern themselves with the affairs of the day. There is a slight mocking tone in Vastocio's voice and Ivyian can't tell if it's directed at him, elves in general or somewhere else. Vastocio is something of a curiousity. Judging from his tone, accent, and coloring, he's not from anywhere in the West and he doesn't look at all like a moor.

The elf takes a few steps down the steps. his halfsmile slightly widened as Elspeth spoke, then his eyes went to each of the fellows who were introduced, or introduced themselves. If the Robed fellow expected to gauge Ivy by his reaction, he had picked the wrong elf. however , Ivy was not the type to let slights slip by....with a chuckle he said ,..well..Vastocio...you would be quite surprised what the...'fair folk'..concern themselves with....Normans and slaver folk with a shaft quivering in thier hearts is one of our favorite pass times...folk who tend to think they wield power over working folk...poor folk..they are almost as much fun to...concern oursleves with...Right now? It seems The Lady has pushed me in a direction that might aid me in such good times...
He finishes the Bottle he had in his hand and flicks it into a corner,...now...i must confess...your names mean little to me at the moment...a few hours from now..they will mean quite alot more as i move about the folks at this....party. But that seems like so much work for a holiday...perhaps you might let me know why a hansome wench, and pretty girl both deciede that i should be here right now? There is the clinking sound of keys against a lock then the opening of a door and a slight draft fills the room for a moment, until the door firmly closes. Stepping into the room from a secret door just behind Gaspar of York is the young welsh archer, Brandon Ashwood and two other men both equally young and eager looking step into the candlelight. Everyone now stands and introduces themselves to the newcomers, a young moor standing about, 5-6, with dark curly hair and smoke colored gray eyes. He looks nervous and uncertain of his fate at first but breathes a sigh of relief when he realizes they are not going to kill him, and introduces himself,My name's Ragusso. I'm from Valencia the Home of El Cid. Not that I'm a man of his stature or anything, I'm not even knight, I'm a priest of St. Hardig. The other young man is 5-8 with unruly blond hair and dark brown eyes. He is an archer like Brandon and speaks with a thick, northern welsh accent,Me name's Bervis of Anglesy. Do you mind if I share in a drink while we hear what's going on here? Captain Glendower offers him a glass and a bottle and then hands a glass to Brandon as well,Of course Bervin, Enjoy it while you can, it may be the last comfort of your life. Glendower lets out a low laugh at his common saying Brandon and Bervis have heard more than a hundred times,Elspeth, if you would, Elspeth stands and looks them all over, her eyes lingering on Ivyian before she starts,You were chosen, picked, hoped for your help because we think you have the right temperament, skills and ability to endure hardship and loss. We aim to take on and end the operations of the Iron Ring in Normandy, Flanders and Brabant. For those of you who don't know or have never heard of the Iron Ring, take heed. They are the largest, most disciplined, organized and dangerous Slaver organization in the lands of the Mare Nostrum and Aqualonian Empire and now they've come to ply their trade here. We are here to kill them and their allies who would profit from the misery of others. Right now they are working with the Brotherhood of the Red Sash and the Knights of the Sceptre targeting demi-humans, gnomes and elves in particular. Do you have any questions? Do you want to bow out now, or shall I continue?

The elf chuckles deeply...you had my attention when you mentioned the killing of slavers. Since they are well known..in thier lands... I think it easy enough to slow down the spread of thier business.. in two ways...first off...any business, merchant...lawmaker..or church that helps them..aids them in anyway...gets burned...the people killed and marked as slavers...I learned this ...from the best...you make it so, it is not worth while to aid the slavers..or to be a slaver...leaving the tortured bodies of dead slavers behind , will help quesll some of the interest of the weaker folks who work for greed...the second..these knights you have mentioned...anytime one is seen..they should be stalked and put down...and marked...this is the begining...this is where we can stop such things the quickest....let those who are out there... he points towards the town..let them know there is hope for them...death for slavers and thier allies...this way...those who ahve the courage to step up...will..because they know someone else is out there doing this.....
He stops for a moment, he looks around the room and smiles sheepishly,..forgive me...My elven blood tends to rise at certain time...Please , Lady Elspeth..continue.

Brandon looks about the room and gives a slight smile at seeing Captain Glendower with Lady Elspeth.Taking the drink from the CaptainIt seems Captain that I do not need to search you out in the morning to speak of an opertunity that had come up.Lady Elspeth had a convincing argument for our help.
Turning to the others in the room it is quite an assortment. I come from a humble background but one of freedom,I feel all should have that right.Hardships are relative when matters of this importance are at stake. When we have halted there efforts in our lands and send them back to there leaders in boxs or bags a message shall resound from the west...STAY OUTBrandon tips his glass to the room May this be a new and prosperous friendship.

Elspeth looks on, listening to the young slayers. She casts a wary glance over to Captain Glendower, who simply nods for her to continue. Ivyian, Brandon, we are not here to spread terror and kill everyone close to the Iron Ring and Coucy. I am hoping for more precision and discernment on your parts than your words carry. I hope you are just being dramatic out of youthful eagerness. Unfortunately there are many who aid the Coucy's and their cohorts. Not all of them are evil or bad, they are just caught. Others aid the slavers unwittingly. I intend to save as many of those folk as possible. Hopefully show them the error of their ways, the hidden deceits of our foes and get them to join us. We can slaughter simple jailers and sheriffs till the world burns and not get any closer to the true workers of this evil. That's who I am after. I want to find them and cut out there hearts, ending the threat once and for all. Look at what has happened over the last twenty years of intermittent warfare. We are all weaker and poorer for it and none any closer to victory than when it all started. Why? Because everyone spends their days killing everyone else's servants. I want the head, not the arm or leg of our foe. This may, at times require us to associate with the lesser servants of our foes, treating them like allies and friends in order to discover their leaders. Can you do this? Are you up to smiling and drinking with those you would rather kill and then vomit on their corpses? This is gritty, unheralded work. I can promise you will find no glory here and many an honest man will shun you for the work we will do. Think on it for the night. In the morning I take ship for St. Valery and Picardy, you may let me know your decision then. Gentlemen, Merry Yule and the Peace of Winter to you all. Elspeth raises her glass in toast.

Ivy shrugs,...I have been doing....'what needs done'...most of my life. I do not see why now would be much differant. There wil still be fools to kill. fools to fool, and fools to use. It is the way of things. What it will come down to...is who will be able to use the other fools...the best? Aye?
When you take ship, what will become of us? do will go...or do we carry on here, until we know when are are needed?

Brandon tips his glass to all then turns his eye back to Lady ElspethLady Elspeth earlier this evening you had a far more black and white view of the situation, and now your tone is softer and more forgiving to those who could be swayed into helping us and shone the error of there ways.I'am reasonable man brought up on sensible judgement, many who help these people must aid the slavers or be killed by them.......Do you have more information with reguards to how the slavers travel and in what numbers they have for guards and scouts of there own?Do they have any know patterns that can be used in our favor? Looking around the room Brandon takes in all the faces. Will there be others joining us or can we recruit a few more either form our ranks or others
Turning he eyes Captain GlendowerSir are there others in your command who you would be willing to spare, 3 or 4 would round out a good squad?
Lady Elspeth when we arrive at the ship in the morning will we boarding then for our first destination, or getting further instructions as to where to head next that is Captain Glendower gives me leave to do so.

Elspeth gives Ivyian an exasperated look and sighs,You are going with me, you too will be on that ship. It's why I told you where it's going. St. Valerly is our first port of call. It's a small, safe harbor not used by many main line vessels or traders. Only vikings and fishermen regulary dock there. I'm hoping to make it a base for our seafaring operations. Just south of St. Valery is the larger port city of Eu. There is some rumor of Iron Ring agents working there. Our first assignment is to find the truth of the rumors and act accordingly afterward. Now to your question Brandon, if it were up to me, I would simply kill them all. The priest's of Hardig though, would have us act with some caution and interest for the future, so I relent for the time being. Take care for tomorrow, the coastal waters are not safe. It's quite possible we will run into hostile vikings, pirates or worse, the Queen's Privateers. Rest well gentlemen, I hope to see you on the docks. Elspeth and Gaspar then depart leaving Brandon, Iyvian, and Captain Glendower alone. Glendower sits down and pours a shot for all of them,There are a few more going with you Brandon, mostly the young and new to my command. The older, more experienced men are known too well as part of my Company. Their presence would alert the foe before we could move on them. The same goes for Lord Danyon and most of his people. When you go, Elspeth is more a guide and counselor than actual commander. She is not your captain and you by no means have to follow her orders or put up with her arrogance. I would pay heed to what she says though, she has spent more time than most traveling the roads you are about to take. While you are out there Brandon, you don't know us, don't recgonize us, don't contact us. Ivyian and Lord Danyon may have other arrangements. If the enemy suspects you are associated with me in any way, they will come for you.

Ivy smiles at Elspeth as Elspeth answers. His laughter is kept in his cheat as he baited her. The he nods,...On the Morrow then...
After she leaves and Glendower speaks, ..I will Convey my passing to Lord Danyon. I will have no need to explain by departure, as he knows my mind and my ways...But he will need to know that i will , nay, be around for a bit...He will need to pick someone to take my place. Other then that? I would like to walk around the party a bit..before i take my rest.

Brandon takes in what the Captain has saidSir would it be possible to gather some supplies,a few rations ,arrows and some stock makings for later. If we are going up against armored knights then we will need tips for the job.The boys can assemble them so they are not traced back to the company.....Which of us will have an overall command if it comes down to it,at least with the Archers, the others answer to a higher power.
Brandon takes a few more sips from the glassSir if I were to get you a letter written for my folks could you get to them....I don't want them to worry.
OOC:Once everyone goes filters from the room Brandon will head back gather up supplies. Also corrdinate with the others as not to over lap the squads needs. 20 Arrows 40 shafts and fletchings 20 armor piercing 20 standard steel 5 signal 10 silver tipped 10 days rations New pair winter boots

OOC-Brandon has no trouble gathering what he needs. Glendower also gives him two grappling hooks and a hundred feet of rope. Was there anything in particular Ivyian wanted to do before leaving?
IC-The dawn is still a cold hour away when Bervis shakes him awake. Ragusso is sleeping back to back with him and slowly stretches and yawns,Egad! tis cold. Can't we wait for warmer weather to sail in like civilized people? I just don't understand this yearning for hardship so often found in you Welsh. Brandon can tell Bervis hasn't slept, staying up drinking with the others through the night. He is still steady on his feet despite it all,Come on with it Ragusso. You don't have to come. It's all volunteer remember. He winks at Brandon and heads down out of the loft. Ivyian stands down at the side door, casually sipping some hard cider, while he waits for the others. The barn is full of snoring folk, sleeping anywhere they can find a warm spot or just a space for that matter. Only a few remain awake and they are mostly older, more experienced folk. Ivyian can see a handful of the Sea Griffons still up and quietly talking among themselves. They are all relaxing, paying no mind to the cold or the hour.

OOC: He might wish to get a heavy cloak for the sea, and another quiver of good arrows, other then that his only thought is to Bid his "leader" farwell.
IC: He watches the folk in the barn. his bow slung on his shoulder temporarily as he sipped the cidar. Peeking out the door, now and again he watches for what activity might be stirring in the yard. Pulling his hood a little tighter, he waits for the order to move.

Brandon only shakes his head at his friendBervis,Ragusso did you get extra supplies from the company Captain Glendower gave approval. Also did you see who else will be coming with us? Brandon tosses Bervis a grappling and one of the 100 ft sections of ropeCaptain thought we may need these.Don't forget to pick up extra silver heads, this will be the last time we will have an armory to pick from.
Cinching up up his Pack he looks up a t Ragusso Were you able to get any more healing supplies,a field sachel maybe.
Brandon worries to much, he knows all the Archers in Glendowers company are skilled and sensible to what they may need for this next job.shouldering the pack he looks to make sure nothing was missed and heads out looking back to ensure Bervis and Ragusso are following.

Gaspar of York walks out of the warm darkness of the barn. He slept near one of the barrel stoves in a cot and looks fresher than most everyone else. He doesn't yell, but does make his voice heard,Come along lads, the tide is running. Unless one of you slept with the Wave's Mistress last night, I doubt it will wait for us. Good morning to you Ivyian, looking like a fair day for a sail. Come along now, best hurry and get a seat towards the middle. You to Ragusso, no sniffing around up there you hear! Brandon get that sluggard moving, step lively now,and Gaspar shoulders a heavy bag on his right arm and lifts another with his left and starts walks out of the yard and onto a winding road that curls down to the coast. A half mile later they see their ship. It is no galley or carrick, but a longship with a dragon prow pointing west. More coming

Brandon pushes Ragusso along shouldering an extra bag.Seeing the Dragon prow a shiver goes through him ,at home anytime a dragon prow was seen it was being watched or shot at.If Captain Glendower had not backed this operation Brandon would question boarding this ship.Thinking about it if you wish to blend in this would be the best method to do so.
As he gets closer to the dock and the ship he looks to see which other of the company has joined up.Once they have there numbers then they need to work on there own silent cant and a standardized formation to fall back on.

Gaspar is rubbing his jaw and looking at the ship with an unpleasant smile,Aye, that they are Ivyian, that and more I'm guessing. First time at sea for me. Tis a shame it's on a pirated viking ship and not something proper. Brandon, Ragusso, Bervis and three others join up with Ivyian and Gaspar and walk onto the beach as a group. They can see tall men with lean bodies and wide shoulders working the oarlocks and loading supplies. Everyone of them is at least six feet or taller and they all have blond, frost blond or white hair and blue or gray eyes. Brandon and Ivyian also can't understand any of them. Gaspar stops and drops his gear, staring at the ship and turning a bit green. Now that they have gotten close, they can see it rides low in the water, the deck railing only a foot or so above the waterline. They can also see two to three inches of green water along the center of the ship. One of the blond men sees them and walks over. He smiles at everyone except Ivyian, who he gives a rather speculative look,Arno VanLieder of Frisia, just leave your things here, my boys will stow them proper. Keep out a few biscuits, your weapons and floats. I'll have you seated midships, between the blue shields. We leave in an hour. Don't try to be useful, just stay out of the way and do as your told. Yes? Arno speaks a rather choppy form of common. He also doesn't look much older than Brandon and he is carrying no weapons or armor. None of his men are either. Just then they see Elspeth rise up from a canvas tent covering the front of the ship. She waves at them then goes back inside.

Looking at the ship the elf shrugs abit...you would hope they know what they are doing. From the tales i have heard. The ship is not for comfort...
When Arno gives Ivy the look, The elf grins at him with a condesending nod. Looking towards Elspeth he frowns,... That reminds me, the Young tart still has my small pouch of coin...i am starting this trip in the hole already....
Take a few rations and tucking them inside his tunic, he puts on the Cloak with his quiver over top. His bow in his hand and his baldes secure....we are going to get wet, my friends...make sure you do not whine or look weak...these folks do this for play...they think you weak, if you cannot stand a bit of cold or water...

Brandon again only shakes his head shoving the his extra bag at Ragusso Take your pack for it will double as a floatBrandon looks at the othersI hope all everybody knows how to swim he says with a smile...Take your pack you can sit on it to keep out of the water,Cap had a reason for everyone to oil the bags good ,the sgt. from my home made us sit in a half sinking row boat in the rain for well to long, he said "to harden us up for real life"I would say we were here.
Brandon is also a little taken back for being 6 ft tall he had always stood out a little,on this dragoon he's average at best.Gaspar I would have thought being from where you are you would have done some patrolling at one time or another.Sgt.Rice made sure you could carry your life on your back and be able to run from one end of Wales to the other without a rest.......Bervis,Ragusso, lets see who else we will have for company in our travels.
Brandon casually passes Ivyian,In low Elven Watch everything the crew does and which way the shore line is,If we have to bale for any reason we will want to be swimming in the right direction at least.
Brandon heads off to board the viking longship.securing his weapons.
